A Brief History of YPAC

“YPAC” is the shorthand and locally known name for YPAC Manchester. Originally a small local church-led initiative called “Youth Project @ Apostles and Cuthbert’s”, YPAC Manchester has grown to become an important local youth project in the Miles Platting, Collyhurst and Ancoats areas of Manchester, registering as a Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee in 2010

2005
YPAC Manchester was established in November 2005 as the Local Anglican Churches’ response to the lack of facilities for young people in the area as identified through the regeneration process.
2010
YPAC became a Charity in 2010 and simultaneously was registered as a not for profit Ltd Company.
2014

YPAC relocates offices to St. Georges Community Centre

2020
YPAC Detached workers agree to help with Protective Youthwork during the COVID pandemic, ensuring additional support for young people in the area. YPAC adapts it’s work to make sure young people are supported throughout the provision where Manchester spends a disproportionate amount of time in the strictest regulations.
2018
After an organisational restructure, YPAC start to deliver more focussed Detached Work in Collyhurst alongside it’s regular Youth and Play club work.
2017

YPAC starts running Playwork in St. Georges Community Centre to ensure continuous provision of a play session after the closure of the charity delivering it. This expands the age range we are working with from 6-19.

Today
YPAC has 2 detached work teams, a Playwork provision during holiday and Term time and a full Youth Club provision.
